While trying to scan an image on your Canon Printer from your MF Toolbox, you may get this error and the scanning fails.

This means that you are trying to scan using your Wi-Fi connection from a remote laptop of PC which is not directly connected to the printer.

The canon printers are by default set to scan from the computer which is directly connected to the printer via USB cable. So you will have to change this setting to ‘Remote Computer’ and then you can scan using any other pc connected to your network.

To change this setting do the following:

1. Press [Scan].
2. Select <Remote Scanner> with up and down arrows, and then press [OK].
The machine is now waiting for scanning.
3. Retry scanning in the application or MF Toolbox.

I have been hearing about this rugged phones for quite some time. I recently had a first hand experience at Mustafa Centre Singapore, which is selling these phones. They are branded ruggear phones. The features seem to be quite promising. As I was browsing through the phones at basement 2 at Musfata as I normally do every now and then, I saw a small fish tank in the middle of the phones counter.

This made me quite curious and was wondering what could a fish tank do in the midst of phones section. As I approached, I was shocked to see a phone was floating inside. The salesman confirmed that these are new phones that are floatable. Curious to know more, I found from him that there are other models of ruggear phones available there and some of the features are shock-proof, water-proof, barometer, GPS, Walkie Talkie, Dual Sim card, well the list continues.

Later I found that these ruggear phones can also be bought online in Singapore from Smart Source.

You usually have a small room where you put all your servers and not surprisingly you call it a “server room”. You will have all your network equipmenta there, with Internet connectivity, UPS and so on. To manage these servers you will probably need IT personnel, 24/7 support and availability, UPS, monitoring, rack space, electricity and so on.

So you downloaded an .iso or .dmg file, and now you want to burn it to CD or DVD on your Mac. Fear not! No extra software is required.

The delightfully useful Disk Utility built into OS X can burn disk images to optical media in a few easy steps. Read on for how to go about burning your new disc.

Windows users: You should check out the free ISO Recorder for similar functionality.

Launch Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities).
Insert your blank DVD or CD.
Drag and drop your .dmg or .iso file to the left pane in Disk Utility. Now both the blank disk and the .iso/.dmg should be listed.
Select the .iso/.dmg file you want to burn to disc, and click on the Burn button. A dialog box confirming the destination (your blank CD/DVD) will appear.

Sit back and wait while your new disc gets written!
All discs burned on the Mac work across platforms; you’ll notice in the screenshot that I’m burning the Ophcrack Live CD, which is obviously for use on Windows. This is a great way to back up software installation .dmg’s to optical disk to free up space on your Mac’s hard drive. — Gina Trapani

Open Office is an open source software that resembles Microsoft Office in terms of features. As it is open source, tons of volunteer programmers worldwide improve and add features to it continuously. Some of the new features in Open Office are:

Ribbon Style Interface: When Microsoft introduced ribbon style interface in its Office suite of applications, it was a bit difficult to get adjusted to it. However, it has proved to be easy to use and has improved user experience. Hence, the same interface type is now available in Open Office as well. This is called Ribbon Style Interface 3.3

Thesaurus on right click: Open Office now includes a context menu that gives useful utilities on right click such as Thesaurus.

Find Bar: A Find bar has been included which enables easy searching especially in a large document.

Calc Sheet Tabs in different colors: This may seem as a simple feature. But when you implement this and use this in a calc spreadsheet you will know the real use.

Some of the other features are distributed SCM, SVG, Importer, Flash Animation, More fonts, templates, Clip arts, builders and much more.
